6 Month Portraits and 7 month update

Carter had his 6 month pictures a few weeks ago at Portrait Innovations. We got some really cute poses and he did a great job. Your baby being able to sit up makes such a difference in pictures...there are so many more possibilities!
If you are my friend on Facebook, there is a chance you have already seen all of the poses, but I picked out my favorite two poses to post on the blog. And I must give props to my friend Shannon, she made his precious monogrammed outfit he has on! I just love it! (More blog after the pictures)

Now on to Carter's 7 month update. Yep, 7 months today to be exact. As everyone ALWAYS says...I can't believe my baby is 7 months old!! I swear I was just pregnant with him yesterday. Although he is already over a half a year old, I still feel like we have a "new" baby in the house. I guess he is still new to us :)

Here are his stats and what milestones he is accomplishing (and some extras):

He is about 15 lbs 12 oz and 27 1/2 inches long.

Can sit with no support, but can tip easily if he moves too much

Talking like crazy

Making tongue noises when he eats...don't really know how else to explain it, but I think you know what I mean...

Rolling over both ways

Scooting backwards when he is on his back...he actually will make it to all areas of the room like this!

Cries when I leave the room

Objects when you take away something he wants

Fights sleep something awful

Uses a sippy cup

Puts all his weight on his legs and standing up straight (if you have been around lately you probably would have heard me talk about how he didn't know how to use his legs...well he finally found them!)

Obsessed with the remote control

He is now difficult to diaper, as he is too busy trying to grab everything in his changing table basket

Loves to be held and explained to what different objects are around the house

While I am sad he is growing so fast, I have enjoyed every single stage he has gone through. I have loved watching him grow and learn new things. Also, I am enjoying my last few months (or weeks) of his limited mobility...because I am sure I will be much more exhausted once that milestone arrives!

Ears of a small child...

So, apparently I have ears equal to that of an infant. "Why?" you may ask...well I had ZERO ear infections as a baby/small child, but during my adult years I have averaged one ear infection per year...and this year's is a doozy. On Sunday I noticed when I touched my ear is was slightly tender to the touch...I discussed it with Chad and after a few minutes with a flashlight in my ear, we concluded we would give it a few days before we decided to pay $25 to get it checked out.

Well, I woke up at 3 am Monday morning with a terrible ear ache and limited hearing in my left ear. I tapped Chad on the head and told him my ear hurt, and his response (appropriate for an un-urgent 3 am wake up) was, "what do you want me to do about it"...he he. I told him I needed to go to the doctor the next day.

I get to the doctor at 2:45 and I am walking out at 2:48 with a prescription in hand for an antibiotic ear drop.

FYI- if you have a baby, take them with you to the doctor...you get so much attention, I believe that is the reason for getting in and out on Tuesday so quickly!

"3 drops 4 times a day for 7 days. Lay on side with cotton ball in ear for 30 minutes." These are the instructions I am given. Apparently they are not aware that I have an "almost 7 month old". By the time I lie on the couch for 30 minutes he will have scooted under the couch (yes, he is a scooter now)! We are trying our best.

I really hope these drops start working soon. Chad looked in my ear tonight and he said is was practically swollen shut...hence the muffled hearing I suppose. It HURTS too. From what I recall with my last outer ear infection, it took a good 4-5 days to get it feeling better.

This post has even bored me. So if you have even made it this far in the blog post, I apologize for the un-interesting-ness :) But this is what's going on at the moment!

Baby Wreaths

Lately I have really enjoyed making these baby wreaths for friends who are expecting! They are great to have at your baby tea, to hang on the hospital door, and also to hang on the baby's door at home. First pair of Nike's

Yesterday after church, Chad, Carter, and I went and ate at the Palace with Chad's family. Afterwards we took a stroll down to Hibbett's. Just for fun, my nephew and I started trying shoes on Carter. He looked so cute with tennis shoes on that his Grandmom and Pop just had to buy him some! Below are some pictures of Carter's first pair of Nike's! Now I've just got to find him some ankle socks!

Father's Day

We had a good time the weekend of Father's Day...despite Carter's teething pain. That Saturday we went up to the lake for the day. Carter and Avery got to swim in the baby pool while everyone laid out and we had a great dinner of grilled pork chops with a ton of yummy sides and ice cream sundays. Sunday, we spent the evening with Chad's parents for another great dinner...and now I'm on a diet ;)
