Ears of a small child...

So, apparently I have ears equal to that of an infant. "Why?" you may ask...well I had ZERO ear infections as a baby/small child, but during my adult years I have averaged one ear infection per year...and this year's is a doozy. On Sunday I noticed when I touched my ear is was slightly tender to the touch...I discussed it with Chad and after a few minutes with a flashlight in my ear, we concluded we would give it a few days before we decided to pay $25 to get it checked out.

Well, I woke up at 3 am Monday morning with a terrible ear ache and limited hearing in my left ear. I tapped Chad on the head and told him my ear hurt, and his response (appropriate for an un-urgent 3 am wake up) was, "what do you want me to do about it"...he he. I told him I needed to go to the doctor the next day.

I get to the doctor at 2:45 and I am walking out at 2:48 with a prescription in hand for an antibiotic ear drop.

FYI- if you have a baby, take them with you to the doctor...you get so much attention, I believe that is the reason for getting in and out on Tuesday so quickly!

"3 drops 4 times a day for 7 days. Lay on side with cotton ball in ear for 30 minutes." These are the instructions I am given. Apparently they are not aware that I have an "almost 7 month old". By the time I lie on the couch for 30 minutes he will have scooted under the couch (yes, he is a scooter now)! We are trying our best.

I really hope these drops start working soon. Chad looked in my ear tonight and he said is was practically swollen shut...hence the muffled hearing I suppose. It HURTS too. From what I recall with my last outer ear infection, it took a good 4-5 days to get it feeling better.

This post has even bored me. So if you have even made it this far in the blog post, I apologize for the un-interesting-ness :) But this is what's going on at the moment!
I need to post Carter's 6 month pictures, they are so stinkin' cute.

Baby Wreaths

Lately I have really enjoyed making these baby wreaths for friends who are expecting! They are great to have at your baby tea, to hang on the hospital door, and also to hang on the baby's door at home. If you are interested or know of anyone who is interested in a wreath, you can shoot me an email at kmgoodwin21@yahoo.com. The wreath can be customized to the colors of the baby's room as well.
Below are a few pictures of the wreaths I have done:

Fun in the Baby Pool...

Saturday, Chad did some yard work and Carter and I decided to play in the pool, here are some cute shots of him trying to figure everything out...
(New Post Below)

First pair of Nike's

Yesterday after church, Chad, Carter, and I went and ate at the Palace with Chad's family. Afterwards we took a stroll down to Hibbett's. Just for fun, my nephew and I started trying shoes on Carter. He looked so cute with tennis shoes on that his Grandmom and Pop just had to buy him some! Below are some pictures of Carter's first pair of Nike's! Now I've just got to find him some ankle socks!

Father's Day

We had a good time the weekend of Father's Day...despite Carter's teething pain. That Saturday we went up to the lake for the day. Carter and Avery got to swim in the baby pool while everyone laid out and we had a great dinner of grilled pork chops with a ton of yummy sides and ice cream sundays. Sunday, we spent the evening with Chad's parents for another great dinner...and now I'm on a diet ;)
Below are some pictures of the day on Saturday...

Avery needing her hair did after the babies' naps.

Surprised for some reason.

On the boat...we are still battling reflux and I caught him in action!

Avery and Carter in the baby pool...Carter mostly just watched Avery and Avery tried to grab Carter's hat the whole time. They were super cute.

Hanging out in the shade on the docked boat.

Finally inside out of the heat!

Ready to go swim!

We like Carrots!

We have started baby food and Carter seems to really be loving it! I have decided to make most of his baby food, and it has been quite an experience. It really is a lot of work, but it is fun and you feel like you have really accomplished something. Plus you save lots of $$ in the process. I borrowed this book from my friend Rebecca, and it explains the basics to making your own baby food.
I went to the store yesterday and bought a bag of carrots (the kind with stems still attached) and 4 apples. Basically the steps are as follows:

-Rinse Veggie or Fruit
-Peel
-Cut
-Steam until soft
-Puree in the food processor
-Let cool to room temperature
-Spoon into ice cube trays (each cube is a serving)
-Freeze in the freezer
-Pop them out into a freezer bag and label with date and contents

Then, once meal time comes around, just take a cube out, pop it into the microwave for 30 seconds and let cool. Below are some pictures of the process...

Here are the already frozen carrots

Bagged up to go back in the freezer

Apples Chopped

Apples Steaming

Fresh out of the food processor

Covered and ready to go in the freezer
The apples cost about $4 and the bag of carrots cost $2. The Carrots made 27 servings and the Apples made 21. So that is $6 for 48 servings. I do realize though, eventually he is going to move up to 2 cubes and eating more than just once a day, but for right now he is eating a solid just once a day. So I am excited about the economical side of it. Here are some picture of Carter's first taste of carrots....

First bite... not real sure what I just put in his mouth!

Here he is by the end of his meal, loved it!
I loved watching him kick and fling his arms and get excited about eating! It was so fun :)
