Best Buds

Sorry, it has been a while. A few weeks ago we spent the weekend at the lake and it was little Owey's first trip. Carter showed him the ropes and we got some cute pictures of him figuring out Owen. It is so funny to see them next to each other, what a difference a year makes!
In a few weeks we will have a total of 4 grandchildren at Mom and Dad's house, so it should make for some rowdy times, and I'm sure lots of good stories. The family beach trip will be a hoot. I'm sure Carter and Avery will think that they rule the roost with Owen and Leah! Oh, we are so blessed with all these little ones, thank you Lord!

You might have a problem if....

I noticed that I might have a little problem tonight.

Well, after our night time routine of playtime, bath, milk, and story-time Carter was finally in the bed at about 7:40. Normally, after this, it is time for me to clean up the disaster area that is my living room. We keep Carter's toys in a laundry basket and first thing in the morning it is dumped out and rummaged through by two little hands, so I just leave it like that for the day, instead of picking it all up multiple times a day. I just save myself the trouble and do it ONCE a day. All you moms know what I'm talking about...or if you're not there yet, you certainly will be soon.
Tonight I go to do my normal picking up and get the living room somewhat 'livable' for night time TV. Now that Carter is a little bit older he has toys that contain several parts...i.e. a tool box with tools in it, a set of wooden rings that are stackable, a dump truck with boulders in it, fridge farm with farm animals, etc. As I am putting things in the basket I find myself slightly panicked that I cannot find pieces to SEVERAL items. You see, I must put things in his basket a certain way...small items that are 'single' in the bottom, stackables along the sides, dump truck in the middle, tool boxes (we have 2) in the middle, annoying thing that talks when anything hits it facing the wall of the basket, and stuffed animals on top...oh, and of course all pieces of the fridge farm on the fridge. So I cannot find a ball, a wooden stackable, and one half of the duck from the fridge farm. Ugh! I'm looking everywhere, under each sofa, down the hall, kitchen, rooms, bathrooms....and I am still missing a ball, and a wooden stackable. The duck was recovered. I am getting very flustered at this point and request a flash light to look under the furniture and announce that I cannot handle missing pieces of toys and that Carter is not going to have a toy box full of partial toys. I am still sitting here wondering where these missing pieces are and will we uncover them soon or am I going to have to wait until we move one day to find them....and then it will be one of those "that's where that thing went to" moments.
The other day I noticed I got really hot and flustered when Chad (trying to be sweet and help) started cleaning up his toys and was just tossing them into the basket one after the other. I shot across the room and stopped him and explained that it had to be done a certain way or it would be a disaster. I might have a problem. OCD? Maybe.

Door Stop

Here is a new thing Carter likes to do. You know the door stops that are on the wall behind all the doors in your house? The ones that when you pull them back and let go they make that loud noise? Well, he knows where each one is in the house and when he is in the 'round about' area of one he must go over and play. So, we made a big mistake when we decided to put a tv in such close proximity to a little one. Carter likes to get so close so that he can see every pixel. He loves to put his hands all over it too (which I don't mind that much- it's one of the those things where you pick and choose your battles and I chose to not fight that one, but Daddy begs to differ). Although, I do get on to him when he has a toy in his hand and bangs on the screen, we can't have that! Just a little cranky.

Well, sometimes we wake up from our afternoon nap happy and sometimes we wake up ill as a hornet. This video is one of the times we are ill as a hornet.



I'm pretty sure he was this upset because he was hungry, so needless to stay we went straight to the pantry for a snack and crisis averted!

Owey

Owen is finally here. Kerri went in to be induced on Thursday, January 14th. After a long days wait, the doctor realized we had a big baby on our hands and we could keep waiting, but he wasn't coming! So the decision was made to do a c-section and Owen was born at 5:15pm, he is 8lbs 6oz and 20 3/4 inches long. He is precious! I think he looks a lot like Jared, and he has a lot of dark hair. Carter met his new cousin yesterday and didn't really pay much attention to him except for to pat his head. I know they will have lots of fun times together! Now we just need Leah here and the cousins will be 2 on 2! Here are some pictures below:
